We've had many celebrations of our sweet OJ's birthday. Just today, Olivia asked, "Am I really four now?"

Emily & Toby's November Birthdays
We celebrated Emily's 8th and Toby's 6th Birthdays with a lot of horsing around at home, birthday breakfasts, a visit from Oma and Uncle Chris from Chicago, and a birthday party at Dame Farm in Johnston, RI. Emily and Toby got to meet horses Bill and Bob and play in the hay with their friends. Torrential rains prevented the birthday hay ride we had planned, but the hoe down indoors was in full swing. We're still pulling straw out of our boots!

Brief Updates from around the Northeast
I recently attended a gathering of our directors of Campus Crusade for Christ from throughout the Northeast. We gathered to grow, rest and learn together. In addition to working hard on strategy and skill development, we heard updates on what is happening around the region:
This is only a snapshot of what is happening throughout the Northeast. The gospel of Jesus is being shared and heard, bringing grace and truth to students in the Northeast.
- For the first time CCC became officially recognized at City College of NY (Colin Powell's Alma Mater).
- In NYC We've had 18 students indicate decisions to trust Christ on 16 different campuses.
- At Yale, a group of 20 men, about a third not yet believers, are meeting to study the Bible and pursue God.
- A CCC group has started at St. John Fisher. 20 students got together for an outreach this last week. They showed a short film and had a discussion following. Three students indicated a decision to follow Christ. What began as a Bible Study is now a movement.
- Students at the University of New Hampshire had an Easter event where three students indicated a decision to trust Jesus. Also they have seen open doors to help international students transition well to life in the US.
- At Dartmouth, 70 students came to first weekly gathering. Some have come to faith in Jesus.
- In Boston, 60 Student Leaders are trusting God to share the Gospel 5 times with their friends before the end of the semester.
- University of Rochester Athletes in Action had 45 athletes at their first meeting.
- And there are growing movements at Cornell, UCONN, UMASS, Providence College, University of Rhode Island, University of Bridgeport, Salem State College.
This is only a snapshot of what is happening throughout the Northeast. The gospel of Jesus is being shared and heard, bringing grace and truth to students in the Northeast.

Waiting Patiently
I just remembered we had a blog. Who knew. :) We are 13 days from our fourth child's due date. We are now in the waiting somewhat impatiently stage. Michelle is doing well but we are both ready for the arrival of the little guy. We have decided to name him Mat(t)hias Knight Freeman. The meaning of his name is as follows:
Matthias: Greek form of Matthew. The name of the 13th apostle, described in Acts 1 as “with us from the beginning during all the time the Lord went in and out among us” and “a witness of his resurrection.” Furthermore, chosen in honor of our son’s uncle Matthew!
Knight: We couldn’t resist this modern “K” name that captures the faith, chivalry and courage that we pray will be embodied in the character of this child as he grows to become a young man and eventually, we pray, a strong leader for his God, his family and his community.
I look forward to meeting him. Thank you for praying for a happy and healthy baby!

Apple Picking at Steere Orchard
September 14, 2007
We left the city behind for a morning out at an apple orchard known for growing the biggest, juiciest apples around. We are doing our best to explore Apple Valley, as it's known in Rhode Island, by visiting a different orchard each year. This year we picked Cortlands and Macintosh apples and Rhode Island Sweeting. Yummy!
The growers at Steere Orchard thin the branches on their trees in order to produce the largest possible apples. This practice reportedly results in fewer apples to harvest, but we couldn't tell. The trees were covered!
